· How Serge works

A travel agent that fits in your pocket.

Serge is an AI travel companion built for road-trippers across Australia. You text, Serge plans, and bookings close right there in WhatsApp. No apps. No logins. No “please hold while I transfer you.”

01 · The problem

Planning a road trip shouldn't feel like this.

You arrive in a new town at 6pm. You open three tabs. The top result is a booking site you've never heard of, quoting a price that doesn't match the operator's own page. The reviews are two years old. The “free cancellation” link is a dead scroll. It's 7pm and you still haven't eaten.

Global OTAs are built to rank in search, not to know your trip. They don't know you've got a campervan. They don't know you hate heights. They don't know the operator at the top of their list stopped answering emails last month. You end up booking on vibes and hoping for the best.

Serge starts from the opposite end. Serge knows your trip. Where you are, how long you've got, what you're into, what you've already booked. Then the recommendations actually mean something.

02 · The five things

Five ways Serge has your back.

01

Finds what suits your trip.

Not the top of a search ranking. Serge searches a vetted index of Australian operators, filters by your dates, budget, group, and what you've told it you care about. You get three options. Because more than three is a bad chat.

02

Checks real availability before suggesting.

Every recommendation Serge makes is cross-checked against the operator's live booking system before it hits your screen. No sold-out surprises. No phantom tours.

03

Books in thirty seconds.

When you say yes, Serge places a 15-minute hold with the operator and sends you a secure payment link. Pay with your card, get a confirmation, keep travelling.

04

Remembers what you care about.

Told Serge you're vegetarian? It sticks. Flagged a fear of heights after a bad paragliding suggestion? Never suggested again. Mentioned you love markets? Serge flags the Byron Beachside on Sunday without being asked.

05

Messages you when timing matters.

The morning of a tour, Serge sends pickup details and a weather read. The day before a new town, Serge flags what's worth booking. Proactive, not pushy. One message, not five.

03 · Shape of the trip

Built for 14-to-28-day trips.

A weekend in Sydney is one kind of travel. Sydney to Cairns in a campervan over three weeks is another thing entirely. It's a different set of decisions every morning. New towns you've never heard of. A Tuesday-afternoon change of plans because the surf's flat.

Serge is built for that shape of trip. Long enough that preferences emerge. Fluid enough that rigid itineraries fail. Scattered enough that you need someone keeping an eye on timing, even while you're driving.

You don't need a concierge for a one-night hotel stay. You do need one when you've got a month and a map.

04 · Data residency

Built here.
Stays here.

Serge runs on Australian infrastructure. Your conversations, your profile, your trip data all sit in Firebase's Sydney region. We're built against the Australian Privacy Principles from day one. Not retrofitted from a US template.

The people Serge recommends are Australian operators, paid in AUD through Australian rails. Prices are inclusive, in your currency, before you're asked to confirm anything.

We think that matters. Offshore OTAs don't see the country the way you do when you're driving up the coast. Local intelligence comes from being local.

05 · FAQ

Questions you're probably thinking.

Is it really AI? Or is there a call centre behind this?

Serge is built on Claude, an AI model from Anthropic. If you ask Serge directly whether it's an AI, it will say yes. For rare complex issues, disputes, unusual refunds, a real human on our team steps in.

Is it free to use?

Chatting with Serge is free. You only pay when you book an experience, and you pay the same price you'd pay booking with the operator directly. We earn a commission from the operator, not a surcharge on you.

Who am I actually paying?

The tour operator, via their own booking site. When you're ready to book, Serge shares a link that takes you to the operator's secure checkout. Your money goes to the people running the tour. Serge earns an affiliate commission from the operator's side of the ledger, not from you.

What if I want to cancel?

Each operator sets their own cancellation terms, which Serge shows you before you confirm. When you want to cancel, follow the instructions on your booking confirmation from the operator. Refunds follow the operator's policy. Tell Serge too and we'll help chase anything that's stuck.

Which tour operators do you work with?

We recommend from roughly five thousand vetted Australian tours and experiences, covering every major region. Sydney, Byron Bay, Gold Coast, Noosa, the Whitsundays, Cairns, Uluru, the West Coast, and everywhere in between. If you ask for something we don't have in the catalog, Serge will say so and help from what we know.

Why WhatsApp? Why not a website or an app?

Because you already have WhatsApp. You already check it. It works offline and on. It handles images, locations, and links. And texting feels different to filling in a search form. Which turns out to be the whole point.

Do you store my card?

No. Payments happen on the operator's site, not ours. We never see your card details. Your phone number, trip context, and our conversation are what Serge stores. Nothing more.

What if Serge doesn't know something?

Serge will say so. We'd rather 'I don't know, let me check' than a fabricated answer. If an operator isn't in our index, or a question needs a human, Serge tells you and we step in.
