Cookie Policy
Last updated: 19 April 2026
This page explains the cookies and similar technologies used on askserge.com.au. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
1. What are cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (phone, tablet, laptop) when you visit. They let the site remember things between page loads and between visits: whether you're signed in, whether you've dismissed a banner, what language you prefer, and so on.
Some cookies are essential for a site to work at all. Others are optional and do things like measure how the site is used. Similar technologies (local storage, session storage, pixels) work in a comparable way, and where we use them we treat them the same as cookies for the purpose of this policy.
2. What we use
We try to keep the site as cookie-light as we can.
Essential cookies (set by us)
These are needed for the site to work. Without them, you can't use basic functionality. We don't ask for consent for essential cookies because you wouldn't be able to use the service without them, but we explain them here.
- Session cookies. Keep track of page navigation and anything you're in the middle of doing on the site. Expire when you close your browser.
- Security / CSRF cookies. Protect forms and interactive elements from cross-site request forgery. Expire at the end of the session.
- Preference cookies. Remember small things like whether you've dismissed the cookie banner, so we don't keep asking.
Analytics cookies (to be added)
We are planning to add a privacy-respecting analytics provider, currently [TODO: finalise analytics provider] (the shortlist is Google Analytics 4 and Plausible Analytics). Once that is live, a small number of analytics cookies or similar identifiers will be set so we can understand, in aggregate, which pages people find useful. We'll update this page before that goes live, and where the law requires it we'll ask for your consent through the cookie banner before any analytics cookies are set.
We do not currently use any analytics tools on the marketing site.
Advertising cookies
We don't use advertising cookies. We don't run retargeting, we don't place pixels for ad networks, and we don't share site visit data with advertising platforms. If that ever changes, we'll update this page and ask for your consent first.
Third-party embeds
Some pages may embed third-party content (for example an Unsplash image credit link, or a WhatsApp click-to-chat link). These embeds generally don't set cookies themselves, but clicking through to the third party takes you out of our site and into theirs, under their policies.
3. Your choices
You're in control of cookies. A few ways to exercise that:
- Your browser. Every modern browser lets you view, block and delete cookies, usually in Settings → Privacy. You can block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or allow cookies just for sites you trust. Blocking all cookies may stop some parts of askserge.com.au from working properly.
- Our cookie banner. Before launch we will add a cookie banner to askserge.com.au so you can accept, reject or fine-tune non-essential cookies. You can change your mind at any time by opening the banner again from the footer link "Cookie preferences".
- Withdraw consent. If you've previously accepted non-essential cookies and you want to withdraw that consent, open the cookie preferences link in the footer and update your choices. Your new selection takes effect immediately.
- Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of non-essential cookies.
If you'd like help or have a question about cookies, email privacy@askserge.com.au and we'll sort it out.
4. Updates
We'll update this page whenever we add or remove a cookie category, change provider, or change the purpose of a cookie. When we do, we'll bump the "Last updated" date at the top. If the change is material (for example, the addition of an analytics provider) we'll also refresh the cookie banner so you can review your choices.
5. Contact
